Digital marketing expert Eder Holguin, CEO of innovative content discovery platform http://www.IdealMedia.com, commented on the recent launch of the Chipotle Scarecrow "advergame." Holguin says that with the marketing landscape changing at such a rapid pace, the innovative advertisement-game hybrid will certainly go down in history as one of the most successful marketing campaigns.

"Traditional advertising managers are yielding to growth-hackers and innovative new media marketers. With the costs of developing advertisement games getting cheaper, we will see more and more brands engaging in this untapped opportunity," Holguin says.

Chipotle also produced an accompanying film to drive awareness and promote its Food with Integrity campaign, quickly racking up 6.5 million YoutTbe views in under two weeks. The game also sky-rocketed to one of the top 15 free iOS applications.

"I predict that other large brands will jump into the advergaming market. Within a few years, I can imagine other household names such as Gatorade or McDonalds developing their own advergaming initiatives," says Holguin.

Holguin also notes that in order to have the most effective advergaming launch, the games should be made available across all smartphone platforms, not just the iOS operating system. The Scarecrow game lost out on a majority smartphone market share by only being available on at least an iPhone 4 with an operating system of at least iOS 6.

"The greater the initial distribution, the greater the splash surrounding the launch," adds Holguin.
