Digital agency Tenthwave has named Justin Kirby as VP-Strategic Content Marketing, and to serve as the catalyst for U.K. expansion of the content-focused, full-service agency based in the U.S.
Kirby, a respected digital strategy veteran, will lead the development of content marketing strategies for Tenthwave and its clients globally, while also guiding the agency's growth in the U.K.
Kirby is an Advisory Board member for the international Branded Content Marketing Association (BCMA). "All marketing is now increasingly social, based around content, and it tends to follow a 'digital first' touchpoint strategy – something I've been advocating and practicing for years,” Kirby said. “This thinking also lies at the heart of Tenthwave's philosophy and practice."
Kirby's career has combined interactive technologies with digital marketing since the early 1990s, initially consulting with agencies such as AKQA, BST-BDDP, Lowe Group, Lynne Franks PR, and Optimedia before starting his own business, Digital Media Communications, to develop alternative marketing strategies and programs for major brands, including Powergen, Mazda and Virgin Media. Kirby was responsible for the U.K.'s first online ”switch and save” strategy, the development of the world's first viral video tracking system, and Australia's first online word-of-mouth consumer engagement panel with programs for the likes of Unilever, Nestlé and Colgate. He has also led a wide range of marketing research and written extensively about content marketing, including Connected Marketing (2005) and Best of Branded Content Marketing (2013).
