Local officials join Denver-based Consolidated Investment Group at the groundbreaking of CIG’s new 515 unit residential development called “The Highlands at Watford City”.

Denver-based Consolidated Investment Group (CIG), a privately held investment company focusing on real estate, capital markets and philanthropic initiatives, and a number of local Watford City officials, broke ground October 9th on The Highlands at Watford City http://www.thehighlandsatwatfordcity.com, a 43-acre master planned residential community located at Fourth Avenue NW and Sixth Street NW in Watford City.

The Highlands at Watford City is fully-permitted for 20 single-family detached homes, 38 twin homes, 79 townhomes, 378 apartment units, and up to 16,000-square feet of commercial development. The development includes a city park, playground, sledding hill, and skating pond. CIG owns and is developing The Highlands to meet the housing needs of the region's shale oil and gas industry. CIG is currently offering lots for sale to builders, and the site is ready for foundations.

Participating in the ground-breaking ceremony were Watford City Mayor Brent Sanford, Watford City Planning Commission Chair Glen Beard, Watford City City Council Chair Justin Voll, Watford City Park Board President Cari Liebel, Consolidated Investment Group Vice President of Real Estate Tim Bertoch, Consolidated Investment Group Portfolio Manager Adam Berger, and other key city officials and members of the CIG project team.

“We believe builders will be drawn to The Highlands because of the wide array of desired amenities it will offer homeowners, including easy access to Watford City’s existing amenities,” said CIG’s Berger. “CIG is excited to be developing in Watford City. We believe The Highlands has the best location in the best municipality in the region, and we appreciate the city’s leadership.”

“The Highlands is a great example of how Watford City and a developer can collaborate to create a project that is good for everyone,” explained Brent Sanford, Mayor of Watford City. “This project will not only help meet the housing needs of our community but recreation as well with the construction of the city park. We have enjoyed working with CIG and look forward to the continued success of their project.”
