Storyplay Crowdsouces Script Ideas To Kickoff Reality Based Short Film Series — DREAMY or DREADFUL: Submit A Memorable Date Story For The Pilot Episode
Miami, FL (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- Would you like to see your most memorable dating story on the silver screen? Whether it was fabulously romantic or a comedic bust, now is your chance to share it with the world. Storyplay Productions wants you to “Push Play on Your Story" and has announced plans for a 2014 short film series based on your real life experiences, titled Project Storyplay.Me. The pilot episode will be completed by the end of the year. Storyplay is asking the public to submit a true “Memorable Date Story" on its Facebook page where the contest runs from October 23 to November 15, 2013. The chosen story will not only serve as the script for the pilot episode but will also provide the winner with their own personal film. The quality and length of film will be similar to Storyplay’s short film titled 'Just a Drip' (2013).
“We’re totally enamored with the excitement that online contests can provide, as well as their efficiency, in this case, to crowdsource compelling short film script ideas. In return, we’re excited to share with others, the sensation of pushing play on their own true stories, reliving them in a fresh creative way, from the outside looking in.” – Jeff Daley, Founder, Storyplay
All submissions to the Facebook contest must be nonfiction, in English and are limited to 5,000 characters. The contest is open to legal residents of the United States and Canada, who are age 18 or older at time of entry (void where prohibited by law). The top 10 entries with the most votes, as administered by the contest, will advance to a final round. The final round’s winning story, will be selected by Storyplay judges, on November 22, 2013. Final judging will be based on criteria such as a story’s originality, sense of form (cohesion, progression, and compelling conclusion), general presentation and appropriateness to the contest theme.
The idea for this project was born earlier this year, after Storyplay produced ‘Just A Drip’, which was based on a true story of Daley. The company’s tagline, "Push Play On Your Story", evolved from the magical feeling that transpired as Daley’s own short film was unveiled.
“To relive an interpretation of a personal experience as it’s acted out on-screen (with fresh faces and scenery) is really a wild feeling. Also, to collaborate with a director throughout the process is unique. Effectively, you become the co-writer and are part of the production of your own film.” – Jeff Daley, Founder, Storyplay
Award-winning Los Angeles director, Jennifer Ruiz, will be directing the film to be shot in Southern California. She has worked for clients such as Polaroid, Lego and Funny or Die. She was also recently Vimeo’s Staff pick for her short film, ‘6° - Part 2.’ The contest itself will be powered by Wishpond, social media apps.
Storyplay is a film production company that’s passionate about making short films based on actual events. The company loves watching others experience the magic of pushing play on their own personal stories, reliving them in a fresh creative way, from the outside looking in.
