1105 Media, Inc., today announced the hiring of James Causey as President of its Public Sector Media Group. This division consists of 1105's market-leading brands serving the government and education markets.

In its search, 1105 sought an executive with proven leadership skills and broad media experience to build on the strengths of the group’s eight established brands – FCW, GCN, Defense Systems, Washington Technology, Campus Technology, T.H.E. Journal, FederalDaily, and Education Channel Partner– while accelerating its fast-growing marketing services offerings.

“We are thrilled to welcome James to 1105 Media,” said Neal Vitale, President and CEO of 1105 Media. “We are delighted to have been able to recruit an executive of his experience and acumen to lead this key part of our portfolio."

The 1105 Public Sector Media Group was created earlier in 2013 through the merging of the 1105 Government Information Group with the media portion of the 1105 Education Technology Group. Causey will head an experienced C-level team that comprises Chief Content Officer Anne Armstrong, Chief Revenue Officer Wendy LaDuke, Chief Marketing Officer Carmel McDonagh, and FederalDaily and Washington Technology General Manager Kristi Dougherty.

“The staff and brands that Neal has in place for the Public Sector Media Group are exceptional," said Causey. “I am honored to be able to work with them and the rest of the 1105 team in the next phase of their growth and development."

Causey most recently was President & CEO of Causey Enterprises. He has consulted on strategy, turnarounds, acquisitions and start-ups for media companies. Previously he was Vice President & General Manager at Dominion Enterprises for seven years, where he oversaw various marine and parenting media brands, and was President & CEO at Sabot Publishing for six years, where he built the company to over $28 million in sales before it was acquired by Active Interest Media in 2003.
