Palmdale, Ca (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- Every year, the specialty gear company Abadak loads up pallets of tarps to be donated to homeless shelters. This year the company vows to handout more tarps than ever before. Tarps Plus a division of Abadak will be on hand and giving out over 2000 tarps to the Los Angeles homeless. Abadak calls the giveaway “Tarp Aid”. The event will be in conjunction with the Los Angeles mission’s annual Thanksgiving celebration. Every year celebrities like Harrison Ford, Kirk Douglas and Neil Patrick Harris along with politicos and volunteers will be on hand assisting in giving out over 4000 meals and essential items for people in need.
Abadak founder and CEO Michael Stein said, “This is our signature event of the year. The tarp aid giveaway is something we hold very dear to our heart.”
Being familiar with homelessness firsthand, Stein said he witnessed his father being homeless. Nearly homeless himself Stein started his business broke and jobless. “I couldn’t find a job and only had $28 left in my bank account, so I had to think of something fast.” In the year 2000 while the Internet was still young, he created a website (http://www.tarpsplus.com) because it was the cheapest way to start a business and chose tarps because it was a simple item that people needed. Since then Abadak has become a multimillion dollar company with several divisions and various product lines. Stein named his company Abadak, which is an acronym standing for, “A Better Atmosphere Dedicating All Kind”. He says the long-term goal of the company is to grow its unique brand of products and at the same time aid poverty and education on a global scale.
