PlayArt Labs Expands Mobile Game Platform: Launches Artistico for iPhone
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- PlayArt Labs, an independent mobile game developer, today launched Artistico for iPhone, opening the game up to millions of smartphone users worldwide. In conjunction with the launch, the company closed a round of seed funding and announced several strategic partnerships.
Artistico is a game designed to be fun and entertaining, yet also provide players with some underlying cultural benefits. Each level challenges players to place missing objects onto a canvas and restore the world's great works of art before the clock runs out.
The iPhone version features a series of puzzles that progress through various periods of art history such as the “Italian Renaissance” and “Roots of Modern Art.” Each period consists of up to eight game levels, which are based on famous art masterpieces.
Building on Artistico’s momentum after its iPad launch in July, players on iPhone will enjoy a version specifically designed for gameplay on a smartphone. The puzzle pieces, canvases and overall game mechanics are optimized for iPhone to provide players with the most intuitive mobile phone game experience.
To further PlayArt Lab’s strategic vision, the company has partnered with MutualArt, an online community where its more than 400,000 members receive information on art and artists, as well as locate art exhibitions, lectures and other events. As part of the relationship, Artistico’s latest versions for iPhone and iPad will feature a MutualArt icon on the game’s home screen where players can instantly find local museum exhibits and art events all across the globe.
PlayArt Labs is also close to finalizing partnerships with an acclaimed contemporary gallery in Tel Aviv and a world-renowned art museum to incorporate select works from their collections into the Artistico game. These partnerships will provide a completely new way for people to view, interact with and learn about famous works of art.

Artistico is available in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad 2 (iOS 6 and above). The “Roots of Modern Art,” which includes eight paintings, is free. As an in-app purchase, Artistico offers more ages in packages of two at .99 cents per package, or all current and future ages for $2.99.
