San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- On November 3rd, the downtown neighborhood is inviting the city of San Antonio to join them to “Celebrate America” in “A Testament to Our National Treasures”. We will be honoring our national and local heroes; our military, our Police, Fire and Sheriff Departments and their families. The celebration will begin with a procession into the church by four color guards and George Washington portrayed by Mark Collins. The pledge of allegiance will be followed by our National Anthem, sung by Donald Braswell, a finalist in America’s Got Talent. Four choirs from our neighborhood (First Baptist Church, Aaron Hufty, Director, First Presbyterian Church, Tom Dooling, Director, Madison Square Presbyterian Church, Paul Hughes, Director, and Travis Park United Methodist Church, Gary Mabry, Director) will salute our great nation with renditions of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Give Me You’re tired, You’re Poor”. Our musical heritage will be celebrated by offerings of Broadway, Rag Time, Barber Shop, Jazz, and Gershwin.
Following the concert, the color guards will lead everyone across the street to the Toltec Apartments for its 100th Birthday Party. There will be music groups performing throughout the grounds of the Radius Center. The Carter House will be open for tours with an opportunity to visit with George Washington in the parlor of the house. Gen Charles M. Duke, Apollo 16 Astronaut, will be available for a visit about his “walk on the moon”. There will be free parking, a free concert and free food. Come join the neighborhood as we “Celebrate America”.
