Los Angeles Police Department Showcases Future Ford Police Interceptors at IACP
Warminster, PA (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- At the upcoming International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Annual Conference and Expo in Philadelphia, Pa., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will showcase both their state-of-the-art Ford Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility. These vehicles represent the future of police vehicle interiors and will feature the new Havis Integrated Control System.
From Oct. 20-22, conference attendees can visit the LAPD/National Safety Agency (NSA) booth (#101) for an in-depth look at the latest prototype of the Havis Integrated Control System. With this system, police officers will be able to control video, radio, radar, lights and sirens on one embedded screen, while keeping their equipment securely mounted in the trunk of the vehicle.
The LAPD collaborated with Havis Inc., Ford Motor Company, Lectronix, Crown North America and the National Safety Agency to co-develop this innovative solution, which integrates a wide range of in-vehicle technologies to save space and improve police officer safety and comfort.
The Havis Integrated Control System is designed to fit the Ford Police Interceptor dash without modification or air bag interference. It maintains the flush profile of the OEM dash and provides a wide viewing angle for both driver and passenger operation.
The system’s molding secures a 12.1” ultra-durable, touch-screen display by Lectronix, which is daylight readable and can be used with wet or gloved hands. Tactile buttons replace the factory HVAC controls, hazards and air bag indication, and also control the touch-screen display’s power, mode, volume and brightness.
Lectronix provided custom software to meet the LAPD’s requirements and needs. It allows for full integration of radio connections, video inputs, GPS, laptops or tablets, peripherals, radar detection, license plate recognition systems, relocated HVAC and factory controls, and other equipment.
After viewing the Integrated Control System at the LAPD/NSA booth, attendees are encouraged to stop by the Havis booth (#1757) for additional information on this and other mobile office solutions.
As one of the sponsors of the National Law Enforcement Challenge (NLEC), Havis is also excited to showcase several products in the 2014 Ford Interceptor Utility at the NLEC booth (#2625). These products include the Havis Universal Laptop Mount, Rugged Communications Hub, ChargeGuard® Auto Shut-off Timer, 21” Vehicle Specific Console for the Interceptor Utility, Premium Fold Up Equipment Tray and Cargo Plate for the Interceptor Utility, and other mounting products.
Show hours for the 2013 IACP Annual Conference and Expo are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 and Monday, Oct. 21 and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22. It is the largest exhibit hall of products and services in the law enforcement community and the premier event in the industry.
