Otis Spunkmeyer® Fundraising is proud to support DECA by providing $16,000 worth of scholarships to students and teachers, creating opportunities for students to develop business skills with the fresh baked cookie program in school stores and sending representatives to serve on the DECA’s National Advisory Board Executive Committee.

The future is bright for these young emerging leaders and Otis Spunkmeyer is thrilled to support their education and career goals.

Celebrating 25 years of partnership, Otis Spunkmeyer® Fundraising is proud to provide students and teachers with scholarships and business learning opportunities through the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA).

DECA is an extracurricular club that prepares young emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges across the globe. Otis Spunkmeyer supports DECA by sponsoring $16,000 worth of scholarships, providing opportunities for students to develop business skills with the fresh baked cookie program in school stores and sending representatives to serve on the DECA’s National Advisory Board Executive Committee.

“It has been an honor to be a part of the DECA national advisory board. The annual meeting was an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of DECA’s programs and activities,” says Lindsay Maynard, business development manager for Otis Spunkmeyer. “The future is bright for these young emerging leaders and Otis Spunkmeyer is thrilled to support their education and career goals.”

Through its partnership with DECA, Otis Spunkmeyer sponsors 16 scholarships for students and chapters that run a school-based enterprise (SBE), including ten $1,000 SBE Awards for outstanding individuals, three $1,000 SBE Chapter Awards and three $1,000 Advisor Awards. The scholarship recipients are presented their awards at the International Career Development Conference each April.

To qualify for these scholarships, DECA students, chapters or advisors must be a part of a SBE that sells Otis products—typically taking the form of school stores, mobile kiosks or e-stores. Otis Spunkmeyer Fresh Baked Cookie Program serves as a business within a business, providing all the tools an SBE needs to run and manage a successful small business. Students involved in the program can earn up to 50 percent profit on every transaction, and Otis even loans the student groups an oven to serve a variety of cookie dough flavors and pastries.

Groups can also use the Otis Spunkmeyer Fundraising program to raise money for trips, competitions, and more.
