Anne-Marie Slaughter, Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Wendy Greuel Will Address NEW Leadership Summit 2013 in L.A.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- Former State Department official Anne-Marie Slaughter, recent Los Angeles mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the writer and director of the landmark documentary “Miss Representation,” will examine women’s leadership at the Network of Executive Women’s NEW Leadership Summit, Oct. 21-23 in Los Angeles.
More than 1,000 retail industry executives will attend the retail industry event at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, 404 S. Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles.
Slaughter’s opening keynote, Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 8:00 a.m., will address “The Coming Work/Family Revolution” and examine ways companies and leaders can make their businesses more family friendly.
Greuel’s session, Oct. 21 at 1:45 p.m. will discuss the “double standard” faced by women leaders and the role gender played in her campaign for mayor of Los Angeles earlier this year.
Newsom will examine “Redefining Leadership” in her closing keynote on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 8:15 a.m. She will discuss media’s portrayal of women and explain how greater equality in the workplace is good for women, men and business.
“These thought leaders will talk about the real-life barriers faced by women leaders,” NEW President and CEO Joan Toth said. “More important, they will offer forward-thinking solutions that can help create a better workplace for everyone.”
The NEW Leadership Summit, the retail and consumer goods industry's largest women's leadership event, will also feature 11 breakout sessions and a one-on-one discussion with Brian Cornell, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods.
A panel of c-suite executives, Bert Alfonso, president, international for The Hershey Company; Diane Dietz, chief marketing officer at Safeway Inc.; Craig Johnson, president and CEO of Altria Group Distribution Company; and Sue Klug, chief marketing officer at Unified Grocers Inc., will discuss “The Art of Risk-Taking.”
