On September 25, Merton’s Chamber of Commerce held the 2013 Best Business Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner. The event was held at the prestigious All England Lawn Tennis Club and was attended by over 220 guests who waited eagerly for the announcement of this year’s winners.
Awards were given by category, including divisions for Entrepreneur of the Year, Best Green Award and, of course, Merton’s Overall Business of the Year. Merco Medical Staffing Ltd walked away the night’s biggest winner, awarded with not just one, but two distinctions: Overall Business of the Year and Best Business in Raynes Park.
Diana Sterck, Chief Executive of Merton Chamber of Commerce, stated, “Competition was fierce with a really high calibre of applications in all the categories. I am so pleased to see a company at the leading edge of the fast changing health care sector take the Overall Business of the Year award home.”
The health care sector is continually being subjected to intense scrutiny and a rising tide of budget cuts. In fact, the coming year will likely bring a number a changes to the industry as it faces a potential £1.5 billion cut in funding. Businesses like Merco Medical Staffing provide vital services, helping to fill understaffed hospitals and medical centers with Doctors, GPs and Nurses.
Chet Panchal, Managing Director of Merco Medical Staffing Ltd, stated, “Providing staff into the health sector involves following lots of rules and regulations. This hasn’t led to Merco losing its edge – far from it. We have embraced the sensitivities of our industry and built a company that is vibrant, efficient and genuinely focused on providing quality customer service.
“Our biggest asset is our wonderful staff – these awards would not have been possible without them. We are all extremely proud of our achievements and look forward to doing more and achieving higher levels of service throughout the coming year.”
