Hospice Care and Its Importance is Discussed in New "Leading Edge" Segment with Host Jimmy Johnson
(PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- One of the unfortunate side effects of being human is we all have a 100 percent chance of death. While there are many ways for us to extend life, like eating better and not smoking, ultimately everyone faces the same final curtain. New segments for 'Leading Edge," featuring host Jimmy Johnson, will include a partnership with multiple care providers and specialists to discuss end-of-life care.
In the last couple of decades, a growing number of Americans have found an option for comfort in their final days through a program called hospice. Rather than spending your last days at a crowded, noisy hospital, hospice programs allow you to stay in the comfort of your home surrounded by loved ones, or at an official hospice center, depending on your particular community's resources.
"Leading Edge with Jimmy Johnson" will take a closer look at the appeal of the modern hospice program, including what features can help bring better peace of mind to terminally ill patients and their families. Patients still receive basic medical care, but there is a significant emphasis on quality life, general comfort and pain management, and much less poking and prodding.
Host Jimmy Johnson will even show how the hospice model is becoming so popular and useful that even hospitals have begun to expand their end-of-life programs, such as making some patient rooms less institutional and more peaceful.
The show is delivered to public television stations throughout the US and isn't distributed through PBS. Please enjoy the Leading Edge website at http://www.leadingedgeseries.com or email the production team at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for more information.
