Mozilla have received a wide amount of press in recent weeks. The Firefox OS 1.1 has just undergone a major update prior to its launch into new countries and recently they unveiled the Firefox OS App Manager, a developer tool coming in Firefox 26 for building and debugging apps. Also, in July, the announcement of Mozilla’s first ever science program was made. The Science Lab is designed to help researchers around the world use the internet to transform scientific practice.
Mozilla’s presence at The Open Mobile Summit could indicate a transformation in the OS wars currently dominated by Apple and Android. Andrew Pym, co-director of The Open Mobile Summit has noted, “The grapple for OS market share is one that is really heating up. With the acquisition of Nokia’s mobile business by Microsoft, and now with Mozilla launching new initiatives, it is far from a fight that has found its victors.”
The Open Mobile Summit will explore all the major mobile battlegrounds and competitive shifts as mobile, Internet, media and commerce worlds converge. Over 100 speakers, including mobile SVPS LinkedIn, Sprint, Evernote, Walmart, ESPN, Qualcomm Life, Macys and Google are confirmed to represent the leading influencers across carriers, handset manufacturers, media and publishing, enterprise and brands.
The Open Mobile Summit takes place on November 12-14 at the Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco. The conference is set to sell out again this year, for the 6th year running.
