Hope Lake Lodge at Greek Peak Mountain Resort Receives Certification from LEED

Mountain resort continues its overhaul and recently ascertains a landmark certification. The sustainable design concept translates from the building, to the entirety of the mountain.

Hope Lake Holdings, LLC has received a congratulatory letter from the President, CEO & Founding Chairman U.S. Green Building Council, S. Richard Fedrizzi, on earning LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, certification on Hope Lake Lodge & Convention Center. The project has achieved LEED Certification under the LEED for New Construction Rating System certification #10110171.

“LEED certification identifies Hope Lake Lodge & Convention Center as a showcase example of sustainable design and demonstrates leadership in transforming the building industry.” In honor of this impressive achievement and in appreciation of Greek Peak’s participation in LEED, certificates recognizing the accomplishment were awarded.

As an internationally recognized mark of excellence, LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. LEED Certification provides independent, third party verification that a building home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiencies, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

The resort is building the only double black diamond glades run in Central New York. “Labyrinth” is located between Hercules and Trojan. Additionally, Greek Peak Mountain Resort operates an Adventure Center with a Mountain Coaster and 4 tandem zip lines operating year round and a ten lane winter sno-tubing center. Hope Lake Lodge & the Acropolis Convention Center can accommodate groups with up to 1000 attendees.

Greek Peak Mountain Resort, the largest Central New York ski resort was founded in 1958 and has remained at the leading edge of the ski industry with thirty-three trails, six aerial lifts, two surface lifts, beginners’ slope, and terrain parks. Under new ownership additions for the 2013-14 season include: a new quad chairlift - the only quad lift in CNY; new 1.2 million dollar restaurant “Trax” in the main lodge; new PB 600 groomer with Zaag attachment; new ski and board equipment in the rental shop and state of the art ski and board tuning facility.
