Enterprises select Start8 for its faithful reimplementation of the Windows 7 start menu, combined with enterprise license management and group policy support.

Stardock, a leading developer of desktop enhancement software, announced accelerated enterprise adoption of its Start8 Windows 8 start menu replacement solution. Start8, which is fully compatible with the upcoming Windows 8.1 update, returns a start button and a Windows 7-styled start menu to Microsoft’s latest OS.

“Stardock has 20 years of experience developing market-leading Windows usability enhancements, so it doesn’t surprise us that our corporate partners look to us and Start8 to help reduce training expense associated with migrating to the latest version of Windows,” said Robert McElroy, brand manager at Stardock. “The company names behind larger Start8 purchases have been a pleasant surprise for us; we are very encouraged to see many global organizations transitioning to Windows 8.”

Once Microsoft confirmed that the Windows 8.1 update would only provide start button access to the start screen and not the highly sought-after start menu, single order quantities of 1,000 Start8 units or greater immediately increased. In response to the demand, Stardock now offers a network license activation option to customers buying large license volumes. This capability simplifies enterprise deployments where the consumer activation model is impractical.

“Enterprises select Start8 for its faithful reimplementation of the Windows 7 start menu, combined with enterprise license management and group policy support,” said Jamie McGuffie, vice president of Stardock. “Our record of delivering day-one support for all Windows 8 releases enables our customers to know they can deploy Start8 now and we will be there to support them when needed in the future.”

The latest Start8 release, which supports Windows 8.1, is available now from Stardock for both enterprise and consumer users as a free 30-day trial at http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/.
