KegWorks Enters Homebrew Market With Extensive Content and Product Offering
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) October 18, 2013 -- Home brewing is a hobby that’s gained a lot of traction over the years with the rise in craft beer. According to a 2012 Brewers Association report, growth of the craft brewing industry in 2012 was 15% by volume and 17% by dollars compared to growth in 2011 of 13% by volume and 15% by dollars. Craft brewers sold an estimated 13,235,917 barrels of beer in 2012, up from 11,467,337 in 2011. Most of those brewers started out at home.
KegWorks, a Buffalo-based bar and restaurant supplier, works intimately with this industry, and realized that while they were catering to the craft brewers, they didn’t have anything for the home brewers. So they created an entire homebrew section on their website, and started bringing in equipment and creating content.
Peter Milkie, KegWorks Category Manager and draft beer expert, said “I have a background in home brewing, so I knew where to start and what to start with.”
They began with equipment. From individual pieces to entire starter kits, KegWorks has just about everything needed to start brewing at home. They also launched two how-to guides, one on how to home brew and another on growing your own hops.
"This year, we have built a firm home brewing equipment base, including all the items needed to get our customers brewing," says Milkie. "On the ingredient front, we are offering several pre-packed beer kits. As our line of products grows, we may eventually offer a full line of ingredients, but there are some logistic hurdles to clear first. In the meantime, look for an ever-expanding line of more advanced home brewing equipment in 2014."
