The Queen's Cup Steeplechase Selects Alzheimer's Association as the New Benefactor for 2014
Mineral Springs, North Carolina (PRWEB) October 19, 2013 -- The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase is proud to announce the selection of the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, as their 2014 charity partner. The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
This organization is very close to the hearts of the organizers, Bill and Carrington Price, as well as the board members of the Charlotte Steeplechase Association. As Bill Price explains: "The Charlotte Steeplechase Association is proud of our new partnership with the Alzheimer's Association for a variety of reasons. Carrington and I both have family members with Alzheimer's and dementia. It seemed fitting since our major corporate sponsor, BAE Systems, is working hard to protect our troops overseas from significant head trauma and concussions. Head trauma is proving to be the possible cause for a variety of related diseases, not the least of which is Alzheimer's, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease, and many forms of dementia. We think the time is right to bring these diseases out into the mainstream of conversation and do some serious fundraising with our event partner, the Alzheimer's Association, all while having a great day out in the countryside watching professional steeplechase racing."
The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase team will be working closely with the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, to make 2014 a fundraising success through sponsorship, hospitality, and volunteer efforts.
