he VMC Group is pleased to announce the launch of their new engineering services division International Building Code (IBC) Certification Program website. The launch of this site signifies the company’s commitment to become a leading resource for IBC certified products. The new site is located at http://www.ibcapproval.com and is specifically designed to be a resource to assist design engineers in quickly and easily identifying components from manufacturers that are IBC compliant.

“This important new site continues the pioneering spirit The VMC Group exhibited when we became the first organization to receive independent recognition as a Certified Seismic Qualification Agency. Since that date we’ve worked with some of the largest OEMs in the world to issue Special Seismic Certification for products in HVAC and power generation,” states John Wilson, Jr., CEO of The VMC Group. “Obtaining IBC Certification is a way to ensure that during seismic events, critical equipment remains operational. Manufacturers who invest in this process are at the forefront of ensuring the country’s safety,” continued Wilson.

Once on the site, visitors can quickly and easily navigate its IBC certified listing by scrolling through the entire list of VMA’s issued or by using convenient drop down menus to search by company name or product type. In addition, the user has the expanded ability to sort the list by clicking on any data field. A single click on a manufacturer’s VMA Number connects the user to a PDF of that product’s Certificate of Compliance ready to view, print or download.

The VMA scope is limited to components that require Special Seismic Certification in accordance with the IBC chapters 16 & 17, ASCE7-10 section 13.2.2 and ICC-ES AC156 or components that require Special Seismic Certification. All VMAs are posted on the homepage of http://www.ibcapproval.com.

Products that successfully complete this preapproval process will receive a VMA Number and a Certificate of Compliance indicating that after a Design Earthquake, the Designated Seismic System shall maintain structural integrity and functionality.
