Public Sector Employees Encouraged to Take Small Saving Steps During National Save for Retirement Week, October 20-26
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- ICMA-RC is encouraging public employees to take small steps toward planning for retirement during National Save for Retirement Week, an effort to promote the importance of saving for retirement. As part of National Save for Retirement Week, ICMA-RC will sponsor “National Pack-a-Sack Lunch Day” on Wednesday, Oct. 23, a day in which employees are encouraged to pack a brown bag lunch. Employees who want to see how small financial changes, such as packing a lunch, can make a big difference over time can visit ICMA-RC’s National Save for Retirement Week online resource, http://www.retirementweek.org. The site includes the “Small Change, Big Savings” interactive calculator, which shows how small steps like packing your lunch or skipping your morning latte can add up over time.
In early October, Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray issued a proclamation declaring Oct. 23, 2013 as “Pack-a-Sack Lunch Day” in celebration of National Save for Retirement Week and encouraged all D.C. citizens and public employees to participate by taking small steps toward saving and securing their financial futures.
ICMA-RC will also host live webinars on financial topics for both employers and employees. In addition, ICMA-RC’s more than 150 field representatives located throughout the country will educate employees on the importance of saving for retirement and will be distributing reusable lunch bags during National Pack-a-Sack Lunch Day.
