New 3G modems and networks mean faster navigation with QuickDraw® Mobile.

The upgrade from 2G to 3G modems and networks is a significant enhancement that allows ETwater customers better access to irrigation installations and faster navigation while managing them from wireless devices.

ETwater, the leader in smart irrigation control and water management solutions, today announced that it has passed PTCRB Certification for its new 3G modems, and will now offer enhanced wireless capabilities for all of its products.

As the technology leader in the field of smart irrigation, ETwater is the first company in the irrigation sector with a PTCRB-certified 3G modem. The PTCRB is a certification process with rigorous standards that helps North American Network Operators verify which products and devices can operate reliably on their networks. In order to offer 3G level speed and connectivity for its products, ETwater first had to be verified by an independent, third-party testing facility, CETECOM.

The upgrade from 2G to 3G modems and networks is a significant enhancement that leverages current, state-of-the-art machine-to-machine wireless communication technology, allowing for better coverage and signal strength by providing more cell tower access points and faster connections. For ETwater customers, this means better access to their irrigation installations over wireless networks. Also, it enables faster navigation while using QuickDraw® Mobile and ETwater Manager from a wireless device such as a tablet.

In addition to faster connectivity for users, the new 3G capability enhances the speed of ETwater’s OTAP (Over The Air Programming) capability. OTAP is new in the irrigation sector, and it enables the software that powers the products to be upgraded remotely, thus allowing ETwater customers to stay current with the latest ETwater features and new functionalities without adding additional equipment or costs.

According to ETwater CEO, Pat McIntyre, “We have just achieved an important milestone. The improved communications capabilities that result from our new PTCRB-certified 3G modems enable ETwater customers to better leverage the advantages of the cloud, and the power of the Internet. This is the innovation we strive for at ETwater – to be at the cutting edge of technology and to constantly update features and services that help our customers save more water, more money and more time.”

3G modems will be phased into the entire line of ETwater products, including SmartBox™, SmartWorks™, and HermitCrab® products.
