The Peck School is proud to host Common Ground Speak’s fall 2013 program on the evening of Thursday, October 24, 2013. The program will feature a talk by Ron Taffel, PhD, noted child-rearing expert, founder of New York's Family Therapy Division at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, and author—most recently of Childhood Unbound, a powerful new parenting approach that gives children the authority, love and listening they need to thrive.
Dr. Taffel’s talk, “Childhood Unbound: Confident Parenting in a World of Change” will be an interactive evening of insight and inspiration to bring out the best in children and adults. Topics covered will include how to set enforceable limits with children, on lower child and family stress, and increasing kids’ resilience amid academic and social challenges.
Dr. Taffel has spoken and given numerous workshops in twenty-five states across the country, including as a guest and consultant to producers on The Today Show, The Early Morning Today Show, The Weekend Today Show, Good Morning America, The CBS Morning Show, Dateline, 20/20, Primetime Live and The Larry King Show.
This event is for all Common Ground Speaks member schools and their guests. It will begin at 7:30 pm in The Peck School Athletic Center, located at 247 South Street, Morristown, NJ. On-campus parking will be available.
In 1998, Common Ground I was established by a dedicated parent association in the Princeton area. These volunteers brought twelve independent schools together into one consortium that continues to work towards bringing education, information, and inspiration to their community at large. One year later, in an effort to serve the independent schools of Northern New Jersey with this vision, Common Ground II, now called Common Ground Speaks, was formed. Its goal is to provide compelling speaker programs and workshops that cover a myriad of timely topics impacting lives today.
