The Red Sox closed out the series in six games behind two memorable Grand Slam home runs, first by David Ortiz in game two and then by Shane Victorino in game six.
In the NL, the Cardinals had a back and forth season but still finished the regular season with a one game lead ahead of the Atlanta Braves for the best record. The Cardinals played the Pittsburgh Pirates, an NL Central division rival and knocked them off in five games. In the NLCS, the Cardinals advanced to the World Series by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games, ending Puig-mania. The Cardinals were led in the postseason by Adam Wainwright, Michael Wacha and Carlos Beltran.
The 2013 World Series will kick off on Wednesday, October 23 in Boston at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will host the first two games before the series will make its way to St. Louis and Busch Stadium.
