New SAE International Book Offers “Essential Reading” on IVHM Technologies
Warrendale, PA (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- Ian K. Jennions, PhD, and Director of the IVHM Center at Cranfield University in the UK, edits a brand new book of SAE International technical papers that explore the relatively new subject of Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM).
As businesses are making the transformation from selling a product to selling a service IVHM capability has grown in support. As a relatively small technology breakthrough can be brought to market for a large business benefit IVHM is viewed as a disruptive technology.
The IVHM sequence of “sense—acquire—transfer—analyze—act" feeds information (processed data) on the asset’s health into the Operations or Management control center. Here, decisions can be made on maintenance actions with knowledge of the supply chain status, MRO loading, etc., provided by Maintenance and Logistics systems. Undoubtedly, a much more efficient and economical modus operandi.
“Integrated Vehicle Health Management: Essential Reading,” brings together a collection of 22 SAE International papers, and delves into specific areas impacted by the adoption of this new technology:
- Engines
- Airframes
- Electrical Power Systems
- Supporting Systems
- Architecture
List price for the book is $159.00. SAE International members save up to 20 percent off list price.
