Human Capital Institute Announces Details of 2013 Learning and Leadership Development Conference
New York,NY (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- The Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global institution for strategic talent management, today shared details of its upcoming 2013 Learning and Leadership Development Conference. Held from Monday, November 18, through Wednesday, November 20, 2013, in Boston, the conference will focus on three principles critical to organizational success: creating transformative leaders, building a continuous culture of learning and the tools and skills leadership needs to stay relevant.
According to a report from Bersin by Deloitte, 54 percent of business leaders cite gaps in their leadership pipelines as one of their three most critical obstacles to growth. In addition, executive confidence in middle managers continues to decline each year, from 66 percent in 2010 to 49 percent in 2012. While many think this is due to a weaker selection in the current and potential talent pool, the more likely reason is the criteria used to select leaders and the leadership development process itself. Moreover, global leadership, delivered via leaders placed into new cultures where there is a shift in values and beliefs, is failing as well. Although organizations now look locally to find and hire regional leaders, the challenge of maintaining organizational values and culture still remains.
HCI’s Learning and Leadership Development Conference is designed to address the challenges of traditional leadership development programs and training to give attendees the insight needed to create a deeper, more transformative experience that produces a new type of leadership. As the business environment continues to evolve rapidly, leaders need to acquire a new set of skills and competencies, including social and mobile expertise, internal process improvement and the ability to embrace new decision-making methodologies such as big data.
The conference includes an extensive agenda of educational workshops, informative sessions and insightful keynotes from some of today’s most accomplished leadership experts and learning executives. Through these sessions, attendees will learn how they can create cultures of continuous learning characterized by integration with other talent management programs, mobile-enabled learning programs, skills-based training and a new organizational learning blueprint that leverages learning. Attendees will also find out how to develop leadership training to account for the new skills required of today’s leaders.
“As business needs and organizational requirements continue to change, the learning and development functions must be able to keep up and ensure talented individuals receive the proper training to become effective leaders,” said Carl Rhodes, HCI chief executive officer. “Our annual Learning and Leadership Development Conference is designed to provide those responsible for carrying out their company’s learning and development programs with the insight to foster the transformative leadership skills needed in today’s business environment.”
