Current New Jersey state Senator Kevin O’Toole has released a new and innovative campaign video – directed by Ollie, his family’s dog.

“It has been my honor and privilege to serve as a state Senator,” said Mr. O’Toole. “The reforms we have undertaken over the past 4 years under the leadership of Governor Christie has allowed for New Jersey to get back on the right track of lower taxes and creating jobs. There is still more work to be done and I look forward to continuing that over the next 4 years.”

Mr. O’Toole is currently running for reelection to his New Jersey State Senate seat, District 40, which consists of parts of Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic counties.

Throughout his campaign for reelection, Mr. O’Toole has highlighted his efforts to “fight for the middle class” and “keep children safe.” Mr. O’Toole voted for a cap on property taxes, a $2 billion reduction in state spending, and $9 billion in aid to schools. He also wrote the most comprehensive anti-child pornography law in the state’s history. The law (S2493) imposed mandatory sentences on those convicted of distributing 25 or more pornographic images of children, made repeat offenders ineligible for parole, imposed a five-year prison sentence for first-time offenders and upgraded the crime to a first degree offense. According to New Jersey employment statistics for February 2010 to September 2013, he also helped create more than 142,000 jobs for New Jersey residents.

Mr. O’Toole’s political career began shortly after he received his J.D. from Seton Hall in 1989 when he began serving on the Cedar Grove Township Council. He was later elected mayor of Cedar Grove where he served from 1990 to 1991; 1993 to 1994; and 1995 to 1996. Other professional highlights of Mr. O’Toole political career include the following: Assistant Majority Leader, New Jersey General Assembly (1998-2001); Assembly Member, New Jersey General Assembly (1996-2001, 2002-2007); and Deputy Republican Leader, New Jersey General Assembly (2004-2007.) Mr. O’Toole served in the New Jersey State Senate in 2001. In 2007, he was elected to the New Jersey Senate seat in the 40th District and was re-elected in 2011.

Kevin lives in his hometown of Cedar Gove, where he and his wife, Bethany, are raising their two children Kevin Jr. and Ryan Marie.
