KDS recently participated in the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools Fall Meeting on October 23-25, 2013 at Utica Community Schools, Michigan—convening some of the country’s most innovative education leaders. The League meeting will include workshops and presentations by top education innovators.
"KDS is proud to partner with Digital Promise, an organization that is truly galvanizing school leaders in their efforts to integrate and implement digital learning in the classroom," says Alvin Crawford. "We’re excited to be a part of the conversation around innovative, scalable, personalized professional learning and accelerated student performance."
KDS uses "flipped" learning—a blended model of PD that includes ongoing, high-quality online coursework supported by face-to-face coaching, observation, feedback, and in-depth instruction for optimal professional learning. Using a PD model that includes sustained online learning, KDS shifts practice in a way that results in applied teacher learning and increased student achievement.
KDS has implemented this radical professional learning strategy successfully with leading districts, where teachers and administrators who participated in KDS PD coursework in a given district demonstrated up to a 77% increase in understanding of critical concepts and strategies. Chicago Public Schools, which is participating in the Digital Promise League and is committed to implementing digital learning for students, has also recently partnered with KDS to provide digital/blended PD for principals and teachers.
