Dodge City, Kansas (PRWEB) October 22, 2013
Determined to offer student-athletes a state-of-the-art playing surface for multi-sport practices, Dodge City High School recently installed a new Sporturf synthetic turf field on school grounds. While most schools in the area only use synthetic turf for competition, Dodge City officials recognized that players spent more time on the practice field and would benefit greatly from a high quality, durable surface like the one used on game day.
“We really wanted to keep kids on campus for practice, and wanted a multi-purpose area that could be used in all types of weather,” explained Jay Giffords, Athletic Director of Dodge City High School. “Now heavy rain, drought or even snow will have no impact on our ability to use the field. We have found Sporturf synthetic turf to have many more benefits than traditional fields and costs are comparable.”
This fall, the new field is being used primarily by the soccer and football teams while the marching band meets on it each morning to practice full maneuvers. According to Giffords, athletes have praised the new field’s “Triple Coverage” 3C system that provides consistency of ball roll and a more natural footing that is only found in Sporturf’s unique blend of 3 fibers.
“Having a strong athletic program is important to Dodge City High School as they help students become well-rounded and maximize their potential,” added Darby McCamy, Sporturf Fields Vice President. “We are thrilled to provide their school with most advanced turf system that allows student athletes to hone their skills without worrying about the weather, logistics or other diversions.”
