Avenir Press, LLC, Representing Ambassador Mark W. Erwin, Announces Website and Blog
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- Avenir Press, which represents author Mark W. Erwin, announces a new website and blog. Readers will be able to learn more about the organization and Erwin’s books in particular, as well as stay up to date with news via timely blog postings.
“As an author, I enjoy putting my thoughts into words and hopefully inspiring others,” says Mark Erwin. Erwin is a former US Ambassador, a businessman and banker, a philanthropist, a lay minister, a husband, father and grandfather, and now an author.
Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Erwin has been writing for the past few years. His first books, the “For the Journey” series, include topics of humor, wisdom and faith. He wrote "Life’s Lessons: Lines of Wisdom from a Faithful Stream" with his friend Bob Timberlake. As an Ambassador, Erwin took his experiences and wrote a book of advice for newly appointed Ambassadors called "The Practical Ambassador." The Department of State now uses this book in their program of training for incoming ambassadors. The newest release from Avenir Press is "An Unlikely Journey – Make a Difference. Do Good. Have Fun." It is a memoir of Erwin’s life. In the book, he chronicles his unique and fascinating path from a troubled and unhappy childhood to a life of achievement and honor.
Proceeds from book sales are donated to the Erwin family charity, the Avenir Foundation. This foundation was created many years ago to focus and manage the family’s charitable giving, following the lead of Erwin’s grandfather Charles H. Freeman, an oil and coal baron at the beginning of the 20th century. “My grandfather thought that charitable giving was a privilege for the giver and believed that charity was never intended to be a form of self-aggrandizement and therefore avoided any personal recognition.” The family named the foundation The Avenir Foundation since Avenir means “future” in French and its focus has been on providing for the education of those most in need. Erwin began mentoring young people in the 1980s and continues today. He started writing inspirational and educational books to give away in 2012.
