Danielle Katz, a 29-year-old fashion designer, came up with the Dani.K Jeans Sandal Boots concept when she decided to ‘recycle’ an old pair of jeans into a new piece of clothing. Working out of her home studio, Danielle started producing small quantities of handmade jeans sandals.
The cool and comfortable sandals soon became a big hit on the streets, websites and fashion blogs everywhere and were also recently featured on NBC’s Today Show, worn and “road-tested” by popular TV personalities Tamron Hall and Savannah Guthrie. As news about the fashionable footwear accessories began to escalate, fans responded with great excitement. Rachel S., from Laguna Beach, California said; “Wow Dani, I wore a pair yesterday and got so many compliments! I’m never taking them off!” Boris P. also commented, “Awesome idea, awesome design! From the moment we have seen these Jeans Sandals on the net we wanted to get them no matter what!”
To answer the ever-growing demand, Danielle and her California-based partners decided to turn to crowdfunding as an avenue to amplify the funding efforts necessary for larger-scale commercial production. A phenomenon that is beginning to gain immense popularity in the start-up world, new crowdfunding projects are fueled on the power of word-of-mouth referrals primarily conducted through social media sharing. Dani.K’s project, “The Original Jeans Sandal Boots As Seen On NBC’s Today Show," is currently live on Kickstarter through November 15th, 2013, and contributions to the campaign are being accepted for as low as $5.
Danielle, Dani.K’s designer and founder, explained; “As an out-of-the-box fashion designer, I gravitate towards unexpected and intriguing designs, while insisting on quality and practicality”. Being an animal lover, and out of respect for all living creatures, Danielle insisted on producing high quality vegan sandals containing no animal products or components. Her passion and innovative personality resonates through each of her unique designs, and her four jean sandal styles offered on Kickstarter reflect Dani.K’s future creative direction. Undoubtedly, the jeans sandals are an impressive first step in the development of diverse and exciting products of the Dani.K brand.
