PDQ’s New Classroom Intruder Cylindrical Lock: A New Dimension in School Security
Leola, PA (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- The new Classroom Intruder Cylindrical Lock from PDQ delivers an important added measure of point security in schools. This product enables staff members to use a built-in LED (light emitting diode) located on the inside lock assembly to check the status of the outside lever, without compromising safety to the occupants of the room.
Previous hardware configurations made it necessary to open the classroom door in order to check whether it was locked from the outside. The Classroom Intruder Cylinder Lock is equipped with a side-positioned control button and red LED. To check if the lever is locked, pushing the button located on the inside of the lock will illuminate the LED - there's no need to risk opening the door in an emergency.
Available in both XGT and GT cylindrical lock platforms, the locks are offered with cylinder housings compatible with Best® Small Format Inter-changeable cores, Schlage® Large Format Interchangeable cores and most others. Keying options compatible with most key systems are available. Standard finish is 626 (US26D) satin chrome; the locks may also be specified in other finishes.
The new lock carries a long list of essential listings and compliances. It is tested and certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2-2011 Grade 1 for Bored Locks and Latches, and UL 10C Listed for 3 hours. Under U.S. law, it qualifies under Made in U.S.A. requirements regarding domestic and imported parts and meets requirements of the Buy American Act. It complies with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and ICC/ANSI 117.1 for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, while contributing to U.S Green Building Council, LEED MR Credits 2.1, 4.1, 4.2 and 5.1. It also has Florida windstorm ratings.
The XGT platform has been tested through more than 4 million cycles, four times the ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standard. It's also been lever torque tested to 3000 inch-pounds, also four times the ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standard. All units employ CR1220 batteries with a rated life of 10 years.
The Classroom Intruder Cylindrical Lock is protected by a lifetime mechanical warranty for XGT Series locks, 25 years for GT Series. Electrical warranty is 1 year for either series. PDQ is constantly ready to provide an on-site sample for evaluation. For more information or to schedule an appointment with a PDQ sales representative, visit pdqlocks.com or phone 800.441.9692.
