Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) October 24, 2013
NoviFlow Inc., a leading provider of high-performance OpenFlow-based switching solutions, today announced a partnering agreement with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). This collaboration is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote OpenFlow 1.3 based software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) solutions by working with leading academic and industry research groups and institutions. NoviFlow is working with researchers at Georgia Tech to evaluate the application of NoviFlow switching platforms to several on-going research challenges in the area of software-defined networking.
“This partnership announcement with the Georgia Institute of Technology is an important milestone in the development of a robust OpenFlow and SDN solutions ecosystem that will drive the creation of applications for deployment in the network and cloud operator markets,” said Dominique Jodoin, president and chief executive officer of NoviFlow. “Our gateway switches deliver up to 200 gigabits per second of genuine OpenFlow 1.3 throughput in a 1U format, supporting up to 1 million flow entries and 1 thousand flow/mods/second, to address today’s network hungry applications, such as cloud computing, SDN, and NFV.”
OpenFlow itself is the result of original research conducted at leading universities, such as Stanford, Princeton, the University of Washington, UCLA and WUSTL. NoviFlow views research institutions as one of the key drivers of innovation in networking technology, as well as early adopters that will drive a revolution in how networks are managed and operated, and in how services are deployed and interact with network resources.
Jodoin continues: “We are delighted and honored to partner with Georgia Tech, a university with a long and well established history in network research and innovation.”
