Inc. Magazine Salutes Next Step Living™ with a Hire Power Award for “Leading the Way in Creating American Jobs”: Ranks No. 49 Among Top Employers Nationwide
Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- Next Step Living(tm), the leading provider of whole-home energy solutions, was honored today by Inc. magazine as one of 2013’s “hiring heroes.” The company received a 2013 Hire Power Award and is No. 49 among the 437 honorees recognized for creating jobs and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
“This recognition is particularly meaningful to us, because we’re very proud of the green-collar careers we’ve jump-started,” explained Next Step Living CEO and founder, Geoff Chapin. “I love seeing talented people join Next Step Living in one position, acquire new skills and move on to another role in the company to make an even bigger contribution. We try to make a positive impact on people as well as the planet.”
Founded in 2008, Next Step Living has helped more than 50,000 households become more energy-efficient. That, in turn, lowers homeowners’ utility bills and shrinks their carbon footprints. Earlier this month, Next Step Living also was named to the elite 2013 Global Cleantech 100 list, honoring companies poised to make the most significant worldwide market impact over the next five to 10 years.
Now in its second year, the Hire Power Award highlights the role private organizations play in creating jobs. To determine this year’s winners, Inc. reviewed company hiring data for the years 2011 and 2012, during which time the Next Step Living headcount doubled. This year, it increased again by more than 50 percent to almost 750 employees in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and recruiting throughout the company continues. Today the Next Step Living talent search focuses mainly on sales and call center professionals, weatherization installers, energy advisors and community outreach representatives.
“Jobs are a by-product of success and growth, and historically, America's fastest-growing employers and most important job creators have been entrepreneurs,” said Eric Schurenberg, editor-in-chief of Inc. “The Hire Power Awards pay tribute to company founders not just for their business prowess but also for their immense contribution to the welfare of U.S. workers and the vitality of the U.S. economy. We think it is a recognition that is long overdue."
2013 Hire Power winners will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony taking place at the Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel in San Francisco on November 12, 2013. A complete list of the winners can be found on Inc.com.
