WirelessGuys Utilizes RADWIN 5000 HPMP High-Capacity Point-to-Multipoint Series to Breath Life Into Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary's Wireless Infrastructure
Moorpark, CA (PRWEB) October 28, 2013 -- WirelessGuys announced this week, the successful use of the RADWIN 5000 series HPMP high-capacity Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) base station to revitalize Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary's outdated wireless infrastructure.
The wireless infrastructure previously employed by Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary was a meshing hardware system with recently increasing RF issues. The primary challenge facing Rose Hills Memorial Park was replacement of its outdated wireless infrastructure. A secondary issue was the lack of good customer service from the current manufacturer's support team. The Rose Hills IT team initially contacted its IT vendor for a recommendation for replacement hardware. This led to a referral to RADWIN as a good solution. In turn, RADWIN referred the Rose Hills IT team to WirelessGuys, a Wireless Internet Solutions Provider with a reputation for furnishing wireless environments that work.
WirelessGuys was faced with numerous challenges at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Major wireless infrastructure concerns including basic hardware issues with the radio controller board made frequent radio board replacement and repairs a necessity. Also, the odd topographical layout of Rose Hills Memorial Park eliminated the possibility of a full mesh infrastructure. Eight buildings on the Rose Hills Memorial Park campus were previously connected via three base stations with multiple antennas at the main tower. The system was outdated and in need of replacement for connectivity between the buildings. Newer technology with advanced features including some MIMO and higher bandwidth was also desired by Rose Hills personnel.
All of Rose Hills Memorial Park's needs were quickly analyzed and remedied by WirelessGuys, a Wireless Services Integrator that specialized in the design, installation, and support of wireless networks. WirelessGuys' Professional Services Team quickly ascertained the need for a Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) wireless network. The outdated mesh system was removed and a new system comprised primarily of RADWIN components was designed and installed. Considering the expansive coverage area and unusual topographics at Rose Hills Memorial Park, WirelessGuys opted to install the RADWIN 5000 series high-capacity Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) base station on the main tower. The RADWIN 5000 HPMP base station supports up to 250 Mbps per sector and delivers high capacity over a single radio unit. It also provides high spectrum efficiency in the Point-to-Multipoint arena for greater throughput over narrower channel bandwidth.
An added 90 degree sector antenna on the tower was positioned so the CPEs on the eight campus buildings connected to the single access point to provide improved throughput. Additionally, more bandwidth was needed to the Administration building where the majority of Rose Hills Memorial Park business is conducted. Previously, there was only one CPE going to the Administration building. The WirelessGuys design included bypassing that CPE and adding a dedicated RADWIN Point-to-Point (PtP) link with a dedicated 100 MHz full duplex backhaul going to the tower. WirelessGuys also integrated its own 1U Smart UPS to provide power to all equipment on the tank for two hours in the event of a power failure. The WirelessGuys Professional Services Team basically designed and installed two systems with built-in redundancy for Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary.
As a solution to the need for improved customer service, the wireless network infrastructure employed by WirelessGuys was installed with the capacity for remote monitoring, rebooting, firmware updating and channel switching. Remote monitoring by WirelessGuys allows for immediate troubleshooting and reduces remediation time from an entire day to even a few minutes.
Rose Hills Memorial Park personnel described a positive experience with WirelessGuys and noted that "Everything's been fine." The WirelessGuys Professional Services Team was described as "Very professional and knowledgeable. They had all the skills needed to get everything we needed done."
