Aderant, the world’s largest independent legal software company, announced today that after a thorough market evaluation Herbert Smith Freehills LLP will deploy the Aderant Expert 8.0 practice management solution throughout all its newly merged global offices.

In 2012 Herbert Smith and Freehills, both long-standing Aderant clients, merged forming Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. Herbert Smith Freehills is now a leading international law firm with 29 offices (including associated offices) across Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. The firm currently has 5,500 employees, including 2,800 lawyers.

The newly merged firm needed an enterprise solution that could meet the challenging demands of its varied practices across the globe and help build a more unified feel between offices and employees. Key to Herbert Smith Freehills was recognizing that individuals work in different ways, require different tools, and that, before becoming one entity, each firm had its own common practices, policies, and standards.

The size and scope of the merger created many challenges and new requirements, so Herbert Smith Freehills conducted a comprehensive review of the available systems on the market. The firm decided to remain with Aderant and move to Aderant Expert 8.0 across all offices.

Herbert Smith Freehills decided not only to continue its relationship with Aderant but to expand its usage to include newer Aderant Expert modules such as Matter Planning, File Opening, On the Go Time, Found Time, Paperless Billing, Conflicts, Expenses, Multi-Book, Collections, Budgeting, and the ClearView business intelligence suite. With the inclusion of these modules, the firm will have a truly comprehensive practice management system that will provide advanced time capturing tools, rapid reporting features, intuitive search capabilities, anytime mobile access, and top of the line financial management. With all offices using the same system, the firm will realize significant gains in productivity, efficiency, communication, planning, and overall firm management.
