High Construction Receives Jurors’ Favorite Award in Canstruction Contest to Fight Hunger in the Southern Tier of New York State
Elmira, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- High Construction Company’s team received the Jurors’ Favorite Award for its structure built for Canstruction, an annual benefit for the Foodbank of the Southern Tier in New York State. The competition and exhibition is being held October 20 – 27 at the Arnot Mall in Horseheads, NY.
High Construction’s team, including partners Fagan Engineers & Landscape Surveyors PC; I.D. Booth Inc.; John F. & John P. Wenzel Contractors Inc.; and AJH Design, developed the canned food display titled “Field of Beans: Step Up to the Plate to Fight Hunger.” Constructed primarily of canned beans, High Construction’s display is a tribute to historic Dunn Field Municipal Stadium, home field of the Elmira Pioneers. The display features the iconic entryway, a representative grandstand area, and a prominent home plate.
“As a first-year participant, we’re honored to receive the Jurors’ Favorite Award in this highly competitive event. The friendly rivalry of this competition brings awareness to an important cause,” says Eric Scott, Canstruction team leader and region manager for High Construction. “Everyone has an opportunity to step up to the plate to help fight hunger and we’re proud to be part of a creative and compassionate team of business partners to help ensure a hunger-free community.”
Canstruction is a design-build competition in which teams create structures made of canned food. The structures are judged and placed on public exhibition. Following the competition, all food used to create the structures is donated to the food bank.
