AlertSystems React to Call for CCTV after Alleged Robbery at Gunpoint
(PRWEB UK) 29 October 2013 -- The Coventry Telegraph reports on October 22 in the article titled ‘Wyken Park CCTV Call after Gang Rob Teenager at Gunpoint’ that a teenager has called for CCTV to be installed in St Margaret’s Park in Wyken, Coventry after he was allegedly robbed at gunpoint there in April of this year.
The Coventry Telegraph reports that the victim, aged 17, is said to have been walking through the park where a group of individuals surrounded him before holding him up against a wall where they went through his pockets while holding a gun to his head. The victim was allegedly left with a wound which required 29 stitches after he was hit in the face with the gun. The victim has called for CCTV to be installed in the park as a measure to prevent similar incidences occurring in the future.
According to the Coventry Telegraph, a suspect did face charges over the incident, but a lack of evidence led to the case being dropped.
The victim, who has wished to remain anonymous, told the Coventry Telegraph that:
“To be honest a bit of decent lighting would probably have prevented this because I would have seen the gang and avoided them. But CCTV would be even better. It may prevent something similar happening in the future.”
The victim’s mother has supported her son’s calls for the installation of CCTV in the area, after the incident left her concerned about his safety.
The council have reportedly met with the victim’s mother, the local police sergeant and representatives from the community safety team to discuss safety measures.
