La Quinta Inns & Suites has created an enterprise-wide approach to embracing the military, specifically military families. Their effort starts with hiring veterans and military spouses. La Quinta focuses on providing portable jobs and careers for military families while also offering flexibility and advancement opportunities.

The La Quinta talent acquisition team participates in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Job Fairs, Spouse-Specific Hiring Fairs, and is one of the few participants that conduct interviews onsite during these events. They believe it’s important to have conversations with applicants, as a printed resume is only a portal to really understanding their passion for people and service— important core values of La Quinta’s employee ethos.

La Quinta is a member of the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership’s (MSEP) Program, the 100,000 Jobs Mission and a founding member of the HOH Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council, where La Quinta has been instrumental in sharing best practices and recruiting other national companies to join the cause.

MilitaryOneClick and La Quinta’s team believes that military spouses are valuable assets in today’s workforce. If they’ve been “married to the military” for any length of time their volunteer work represents hours of experience in leading and organizing with skillful execution--experience not often listed on their resume.
