Getting the lead out - MT2 implements firing range improvements to improve officer safety and protect the environment.

MT2, LLC (MT2), national leader in providing Environmental Firing Range Services and exclusive provider of ECOBOND Lead Treatment Technologies, announced today that it has successfully completed another round of range maintenance and improvement tasks at the North Las Vegas Police Department (Department) Firing Range in support of the Department's goals to improve shooter safety and mitigate potential hazards associated with lead in range soils and berms.

The recent tasks completed by MT2 are part of a five year Environmental Stewardship Management program implemented by the Department in 2009. An important aspect of this program is to remove lead deposited in the soil at the range, mitigating potential ricochet and "splash back" hazards and improving the safety of officers training at the range. Lead removal, as well as application of MT2's ECOBOND soil treatment technology, protects the environment by preventing lead from leaving the range. To date, MT2's use of its specialty lead removal equipment and field technologies has successfully removed nearly 100,000 pounds of lead for recycling and treated several thousand tons of impacted range soils to prevent leaching of lead into the environment.
