The S910-X31E is a high density unit designed to meet the needs of multitenant environments with diverse application portfolios among service providers in web app hosting, content delivery networks (CDN) and cloud computing.

Quanta QCT, a leading manufacturer of server, storage and network products for cloud-ready datacenters, today begins shipping the most recent addition to its STRATOS S910 microserver lineup. The S910-X31E is a high density unit designed to meet the needs of multitenant environments with diverse application portfolios among service providers in web app hosting, content delivery networks (CDN) and cloud computing.

Density in the S910-X31E lives up to the Quanta tradition of engineering innovation, with nine or 12 nodes in a 3U chassis. The 12-node configuration has four times the computing density of three traditional one-socket 1U servers stacked together. The nine-node model supports an additional 10G SFP+ port or serial-attached SCSI HDD with an optional mezzanine.

The S910-X31E has an internal Ethernet switch to aggregate all server nodes into two 10GbE enhanced small form factor pluggable (SPF+) ports for uplink. This thoughtful network design in the S910-X31E reduces CAPEX by eliminating an extra top-of-rack switch and associated network cables. In addition, all nodes can be managed through one single management port on the chassis, making remote management easier for datacenters.

The new microserver is powered by the Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 v3 product family. It takes full advantage of Intel’s 22nm technology, delivering impressive power, cooling and space efficiency, driving TCO savings with intelligent and dependable performance. Memory is configured as 4x DDR3 1333/1600 MHz DIMM slots, accommodating up to 32GB total. I/O includes USB 3.0 and 2.5”/3.5” SATAIII HDD support.

Power supplies and cooling modules are shared across all server nodes, boosting energy efficiency and reducing operation expenses. Serviceability is enhanced with cold aisle access to all nodes and power supplies. Additionally, power supplies and fans are hot pluggable.
