The Massachusetts-based Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group, which provides Alzheimer’s and memory care services and housing through adult day programs, assisted living neighborhoods and rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers again this year and raised significant funds for Alzheimer’s research.
Family, friends and co-workers of several Welch Group assisted living communities, memory care neighborhoods and rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers were out in force in early fall to participate in the Massachusetts/New Hampshire Annual Alzheimer’s Association 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s™. Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group to date has raised $12,999.48 for the 2013 Walk.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association there are currently 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease. It’s estimated that by 2050 up to 16 million individuals will be diagnosed with the disease. Funds raised for the Walk will be used to increase awareness of the disease and to support care and research. Held annually, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ includes more than 600 communities nationwide, bringing people of all ages together to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
The Welch Group, a $2,500 Promise Garden Corporate sponsor, provides Alzheimer’s care, assisted living memory care and adult day memory care services to residents throughout the South Shore.
