Yet with CliniSpace’s BattleCare app for Ultrabook™ devices, medical students and medics alike can learn trauma triage in intense battle situations. BattleCare takes advantage of the high-resolution screen and touch interface of Ultrabook systems to deliver an interactive, graphic novel approach to guided medical learning.
The person learning plays the role of Airman Collins, a medic in Gardez near the Afghanistan border. He is confronted with trauma cases and must successfully evaluate their condition through the touch interface that leads to stabilization and helicopter evacuation of the patient.
When creating BattleCare for Ultrabook devices, CliniSpace took advantage of its status as an Intel® Software Partner in the Intel® Developer Zone to gain resources including tools, code and support, as well as inspiration from the developer communities. “The Intel® Developer Zone was a tremendously helpful resource that helped us optimize this app for the high definition graphics and touch screen capabilities of Ultrabook devices,” said Parvati Dev, CEO of Innovation in Learning, Inc.
CliniSpace developers were also able to take advantage of powerful Intel® Core™ processors in Ultrabook devices to create a fluid and responsive experience with the app’s animated graphics. “The touch capabilities help make BattleCare a fun and interactive way to learn about a very complex subject,” said Siddharth (Sid) Banerjee, CEO of IndusGeeks, development partner for Innovation in Learning, Inc.
Because of the comprehensive development support from the Intel® Developer Zone, as well as the power and capabilities of Ultrabook systems, CliniSpace is looking to create more medically-based apps on Intel® architecture. “Having touch interaction and high processing power makes Ultrabook devices a compelling platform to create medical training and other apps,” said Parvati.
CliniSpace was funded and developed by Innovation in Learning, Inc. (IIL), which was started by Parvati Dev, PhD, and Wm. LeRoy Heinrichs, MD, PhD. For more information: http://www.clinispace.com
