Oneonta, NY (PRWEB) October 31, 2013
Springbrook, a leading provider of innovative supports for people with special needs, will host a Consolidated Supports and Services (CSS) training session on November 6, 2013. The class will be held at the Springbrook community campus, located at 5588 State Highway 7 in Oneonta, NY.
Springbrook’s Assistant Director of Community Services, Melissa Mabie, will be conducting a CSS and Self-Determination training session for anyone interested in learning more about self-directed care and services. This training will be done to New York State standards, as dictated by the New York State Office for People with Disabilities (OPWDD).
On November 6, from 4-6pm, Mabie will guide attendees through the Consolidated Supports and Services process. This training is meant to assist individuals and their families so that they may become as independent as possible by understanding self-determination. The details of a Consolidated Supports and Services plan will be covered, as well as the individual’s and/or the circle of support’s responsibilities. The training is designed to help individuals who are not currently receiving OPWDD services as well as those who already receive services, so that they can learn more about self-determination and alternative supports.
This training session is free and open to the public. Those who wish to become self-determined or are pursuing Consolidated Supports and Services, and those who already receive services are highly encouraged to join in. If you are interested in attending, you may contact Springbrook at (607) 353-7272, ext. 2600 to RSVP.
Springbrook currently provides at-home care, residential and educational services, and clinical, therapeutic, and behavioral supports to over 850 people with developmental disabilities from across New York State. The organization is Otsego County’s third largest employer, with over 1,100 employees.
