For Online Gift Store Noir A-Go Go, the Magic of Christmas Is in the Cards
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- Christmas is a magical time of the year filled with elves, reindeer, presents, and pinups---or at least Noir A-Go Go hopes so.
Along with compact mirrors, tote bags, magnets, and more, all of which are perfect for stocking stuffers and Secret Santa gifts, the three year old online gift store is rolling out its new Christmas Card. Featuring Pinup Margot, who also graces one of their most popular magnets, the card is 4 X 6 inches and printed on recycled paper.
"This year's card is one of my favorites," says K.C. Washington. "Pinup Margot is an homage to Josephine Baker. She is dark and beautiful with a playful energy," adds the company's owner/designer.
The image isn't the only thing playful about the card. Beneath the lovely Margo are the words "Ho! Ho! Ho!" and on the inside: "Merry Christmas" spelled out in colorful ornaments.
"Part of the thing I love about the pinup genre is the humor, the sexy tongue in cheek humor," says Washington. "I love all the play on words and double entendres which I try and bring to all of my products."
Those products include Post Its and smartphone cases along with two other styles of Christmas Cards. One sports Pinup Belle with the saying "Naughty Is The New Nice" on the outside and "Merry Christmas" on the inside. The other features Pinup Izzy surrounded by gifts and the words "Merry Christmas" on the outside and "May You Be The Prettiest One Beneath The Mistletoe" on the inside.
The three very different Christmas Cards join a catalogue that offers several other cards, including 3 for birthdays.
"I love designing all of my products but creating cards for Christmas is my favorite thing to do. It is the inspiration behind Noir A-Go Go, so the Christmas Cards have a special place in my heart."
Washington and the Noir A-Go Go team hope that they will also have a special place in their customer's homes.
About Owner and Designer K.C. Washington
K.C. launched Noir A-Go Go in January 2011, with the idea that something was missing within the American pinup girl genre, namely women of color. So she decided to put what she calls a sepia spin on the beloved genre and Noir A-Go Go was born. Convinced that the world is more than familiar with the image of African Americans fighting for their rights during the Civil Rights era, she wants to show another image from that time---one of glamour and wit. A Mellon Fellow and a novelist with a background in journalism and literary and historical fiction, K.C. has raised the curtain on a world of beautiful, empowered, stylish women (and a few men) and placed them on everything from magnets and tee shirts to tote bags and greeting cards, with more to come as she expands.
