Sailor-Saint, A Valued Wood & Huston Bank Customer, Receives Entrepreneur of the Year Award from FedEx Ground
Marshall, MO (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- FedEx Ground works with more than 8,500 small businesses throughout the United States and Canada, and Brian Birmingham’s Sailor-Saint, Inc., contracting out of Springfield, MO, was recently selected from 17 regional winners representing the best of those companies for the 2013 FedEx Ground’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. There are 3 divisions within the 17 regional winners: Line-haul, P/D (Pick up and delivery), and HD (Home Delivery). Sailor Saint, Inc. was one of three divisional winners.
Sailor-Saint’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognition was the culmination of a series of awards received by the firm from FedEx Ground. The first award was for Best in Business for the second quarter of fiscal 2013. The second was for Entrepreneur of the Year for fiscal 2013 for the Plains District, and the third was for Entrepreneur of the Year for fiscal year 2013 for the Mid America Region, all of which lead to this final recognition of Entrepreneur of the Year Company Winner for fiscal year 2013 for P/D.
Brian Birmingham credits his business success to always treating his employees with respect and a commitment to integrity. He also stresses the importance of safety with his employees, beginning each week with a safety meeting during which employees can share best practices. This helped his business achieve zero preventable accidents in FedEx Ground’s fiscal year 2013.
Brian first began working with Wood & Huston Bank 10 years ago. As Brian tells it, “I started with one truck, and I was behind the wheel working well into the night, as many as 6 days a week. I needed capital to grow, but the bigger banks with which I had a relationship turned me down. Then I met H.J. Huston. H.J. had a heart for my business and was willing to go to bat for me. I couldn’t have built this business without his support and the backing of Wood & Huston Bank. Like the old saying goes, ‘they’re in for a penny, and in for a pound.’”
H.J. Huston, Vice President of Wood & Huston Bank had this to say about Brian Birmingham’s recognition. “I first met Brian over a cup of coffee at a McDonalds, when I was the president of the Springfield branch. I knew from the first conversation that Brian was a special guy that had what it took to grow and run a business. Our business relationship has grown over the years, and I can’t begin to say just how proud we are of Brian and his company for this recent recognition from Fed Ex.”
