EAM-Mosca Corporation is pleased to introduce the UHS side seal strapping system. The UHS features the powerful, high-tension Mosca Sonixs unitizer strapping head proven around the world in robust compression strapping systems and now available mounted vertically in a versatile support structure. The low maintenance UHS is designed to strap large packages and shipping units such as white goods, cabinetry, and office furniture.

According to Ralph E. Morini, company president, "We believe that the UHS fills a real market need. The modular arch feature enables customers to optimize the system size - and thus cycle speed, for their specific application without the cost and lead time of a customized machine." The system has a narrow profile that integrates easily into conveyor lines, and can be pulled in and out easily on large rollers. The system operates reliably with Polyester (PET) or Polypropylene (PP) strapping from 9mm to 12mm in width and fills a previous void in the marketplace where high-tension and stronger straps are required for stabilizing loads.

The system was developed with a modular structure and can easily be configured in customer track sizes ranging in 250mm increments from 900mm to 2150mm wide and by 750mm to 2000mm high. Conveyor height can be easily adjusted on-site anywhere from 8" to 24" without requiring special tools or additional parts.

The UHS may be conveniently operated with a footswitch, pushbutton, or automatically via signal exchange with an external system controller. It features adjustable tension and a Siemens PLC with a pushbutton interface which controls all key operating functions. The strap track features a simple and reliable spring gate design with modular components which enables the company to build a track size best suited to customer requirements and optimize cycle speeds, which vary from 10 to 15 cycles/minute or 4 to 6 seconds/cycle.

The main engine of the system is the Mosca proprietary Sonixs unitizer strapping head, which features DC direct drives for all strap feed, tensioning and sealing functions. The patented ultrasonic sealer supplies smokeless and reliable strap seals with either PP or PET. The sealed bearing construction eliminates lubrication and protects the system from dust and dirt.
