Atama, a UK startup and creator of app-enabled products, today announced Sesame, a Bluetooth Low Energy keyfob and companion application to secure your Mac's screen.
Sesame enables the user to secure his Mac by starting the system screensaver whenever he walks away with the small Bluetooth 4.0 keyfob in his pocket. This prevents anyone else from accessing files, Facebook & Twitter account, e-mail client, or whatever else might be open. When the user returns to his desk, Sesame automatically unlocks his Mac.
Sesame also supports Two-factor authentication (the combination of something the user knows with something the user has), enabling the unlocking of a Mac only through the combination of a button press and the system password.
“Sesame secures your Mac without draining your battery thanks to the use of Bluetooth Low Energy”, said Eric Ferraz, CEO of Atama. “Securing your Mac while you’re away is something you shouldn’t need to think about and Sesame can even be used for Two-factor authentication by requiring you to also press the keyfob button when you login to your Mac”.
