Winterville, NC (PRWEB) October 31, 2013
Boys & Girls Club of Pitt County hopes to serve at least 160 more kids very soon. The Club, which currently serves nearly 1,000 children daily in Pitt, Lenoir and Beaufort Counties, will open a Greene County Club in Snow Hill, NC to serve a segment of the region that is in need of programs to help children create positive futures. To accomplish this, Boys & Girls Clubs is asking the community to provide the financial support needed for this important endeavor.
Goodwill Community Foundation (GCF®) is committed to supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Pitt County founder’s campaign to raise $160,252, which will fund the Greene County Club for the first year. GCF®, the Durham-based non-profit that provides grants to organizations across eastern NC, the country and globe, will provide up to $40,000 through a $1 match of for every $2 donated by the local community to start the new Club.
“The support of a generous community and organizations like GCF® are the reason we are able to positively impact so many kids,” says Misty Marston, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs serving Pitt, Lenoir and Beaufort Counties. “We are well on our way to raising the necessary funds for the Greene County Boys & Girls Club, but we need the continued support of the Greene County community to make this all possible. With the donation match program offered by GCF®, each dollar has more impact to help us begin serving these children faster.”
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Pitt County gives children a chance to thrive and succeed in their local community,” says Reverend Dennis McLain, GCF® president. “GCF’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs is an important part of our mission to create opportunities for a better life. Misty and her team are doing just that. GCF is excited about this new Boys & Girls Club venture to help children in the Snow Hill community by positively impacting their lives through resources and programs currently not available to them.”
The target open date for Boys & Girls Club of Greene County is late fall 2013 and the Club is asking for financial support to help make that happen.
