Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks’ Hospitality Now Provided Through One Concessioner
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Calif. (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Guests exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks can enjoy the hospitality and stewardship of one company in both parks. Effective Nov. 1, 2013, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts will transition in as the new concessioner operating overnight accommodations, food and beverage, retail, and other services at Grant Grove Village, John Muir Lodge, and Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon National Park.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks span roughly 866,000 acres of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range. They are home to two of the world’s largest trees (by volume) organism on earth, the General Sherman and General Grant trees; the tallest peak in the lower 48 United States, Mount Whitney; and one of the deepest canyons in the U.S., Kings Canyon, at 8,200 feet.
"We are proud to incorporate this natural treasure into our family of special places," said Paul Ratchford, Regional General Manager for Delaware North, which was awarded the 10-year concession contract by the National Park Service to operate lodging and other hospitality services in Kings Canyon National Park. “Guests can look forward to many of the same high quality service standards we have established at Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park, among others.”
To celebrate the transition, guests who book a stay at John Muir Lodge through March 31 can receive complimentary breakfast for two starting from just $99 per night midweek and $119 on weekends when they use the promotional code KCOFFER at the time of reservation. For details, visit http://www.VisitSequoia.com/KCOffer.
Capital improvements are planned for the Kings Canyon operations starting immediately. These will focus on the Grant Grove retail area, restaurant and furnishings in the lodging in need of replacement or updating. Delaware North’s national GreenPath™ environmental stewardship and GuestPath™ customer service programs will be implemented in Kings Canyon as well.
John Muir Lodge is the jewel of Grant Grove Village, located three miles from the park’s Big Stump entrance. Open year round, its 36 rooms feature an enchanting mountain décor and can accommodate groups as large as five. The lodge is within walking distance to the General Grant Tree as well as the park’s seasonal cabin accommodations, and nearby dining and other amenities such as a gift shop, coffee shop, ATM, and grocery store.
A scenic 35-mile drive east of Grant Grove, visitors descend into Kings Canyon and arrive at Cedar Grove and its towering cliffs, tumbling waterfalls, meandering meadows, and powerful Kings River. The seasonal Cedar Grove Village is home to a 21-room lodge, restaurant, market, and gift shop for those who want to experience the spectacular Yosemite-like terrain of the area during late spring, summer and early fall.
Delaware North has held the adjoining Sequoia concession since 1997, including Wuksachi Lodge which it constructed, Bearpaw High Sierra Camp, and the Lodgepole Market Center. It has operated the Yosemite National Park concession since 1993.
