High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP) is a new technology that’s gaining rapid adoption globally to help food manufacturers and distributors extend shelf life of all natural products up to 2x – 3x. We found a solution with a technology that has been around for hundreds of years, autofrettage.” The autofrettage process is used on tubes and vessels to pre-stress the components by applying an internal pressure that greatly reduces the overall fatigue the component would experience during normal operations. This dramatically increases the tubes and vessels' practical service life, some components more than double.
The Fresher Evolution HPP team identified several potential suppliers for autofrettage vessels and recently conducted a week-long site audit at Baotou KeFa High Pressure Technology, Co., Ltd (KEFA). The audit included the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII Division 3 processes and procedures, QA Audit of the factory, meeting with the KeFa suppliers, and interviews with the KEFA engineering staff. “At the conclusion of the audit it was very apparent to the entire Fresher Evolution HPP team that our diligence in searching the globe for a viable supplier for our ASME US components had paid off,” states Mr. Ludwick.
